Tips for managing a child’s behaviour

Temper tantrums are part of your child’s growing up process from a baby to a toddler. There’s a lot of emotions running rampant that your child just doesn’t understand. The best thing to do is not intervene, just let your child have his/her tantrum, don’t laugh or get angry, punish or reward it afterwards by giving in to lets say a toy just stand politely by and wait it out. In a calm, reassuring voice say are you done yet? then wait.

Its known that its hard and embarrassing. Pretend it doesn’t bother you, when your child realizes you are not making a fuss your child will stop. Its when you intervene and try to make him/her stop the screaming and crying gets louder and lasts longer. Temper tantrums are a part of growing up, it too will pass.

If your child is hungry, thirsty or tired, often this can lead to a tantrum. The best thing to give your child before going in public is a snack like fruit or a protein. Fruit has fiber in it and it fills him/her up and the protein helps to stabilize blood sugar.

Yogurt like Yo Baby vanilla is a great one to try, a cup of milk, banana slices, apple slices, cheerios, Gerber graduates makes a very tasty fruit breakfast bar that has fiber in it that its sure that your child would probably like.

Also allow your child to bring a small toy or a stuffed animal just in case your child gets bored easily.

You know your child better than anyone so if you can try to go out in public after a nap and a snack.
